FAMILY BACKGROUND:
A mother and father are raising their four children in a house in Jersey City: a 9-year-old daughter, a 7-year-old daughter, a 3-year-old son and a 1-year-old son. The mother works part time while caring for the children and running the household. The father is unable to work because of an eye condition, so the family depends mainly on her part-time income. Between food, clothing, school needs and the everyday costs of four growing children, there is very little left for holiday gifts, and at times they have to choose between paying rent and buying food or medicine. They work hard to give their children a happy, stable childhood, even when money is tight. Being adopted this Christmas would ease the pressure on the family and give the children something special to look forward to. More than the gifts, it would give them the chance to make happy holiday memories together during a hard time.
