Adopt-A-FamilyConciergeService

Tell us who you want to help. We’ll help make the match.

The Operation Holiday at Home® Adopt-A-Family Concierge Service is a personalized way for companies, organizations, groups, and individuals to adopt one or more families for Christmas. Instead of searching for a family on your own, you tell Operation Holiday® what matters to you, and our team finds an eligible participating family that most closely matches.

Two Ways to Adopt a Family

Every sponsor chooses the path that fits their time and their team.

Option 1 · Browse on your own

Choose Your Own Family

Have the time to scroll through and read story after story? Go to the Adoptions portal, where the available families are listed in Family ID order and no other order, and adopt the family you choose yourself.

Option 2 · Cut the line

Use the Concierge Service

Skip the scrolling. Simply tell us, “I want this, this and this.” We compile the data and give you our recommendations from across all of the available Family IDs.

How Concierge Works

Follow along, step by step. Eight simple steps take you from the form to a completed adoption.

  • You a step for you to do
  • Operation Holiday® a step we handle
  • Together we hand it to you
  1. You

    Complete the Concierge Form

Start with the Operation Holiday at Home® Adopt-A-Family Concierge Form. Give us your contact information and the number of families you would like to adopt, then tell us what you are looking for in a match. You can ask for families by any of these:

    Geographic preference

    • No preference
    • County
    • Town

    Household type and family circumstances

    • No preference
    • Single-parent household
    • Two-parent household
    • Grandparent or kinship-caregiver household
    • LGBTIA+ household
    • Large household
    • Veteran or military household
    • Senior household
    • Recently discharged from incarceration within the past year
    • Experiencing homelessness or temporary housing
    • Household that includes a person with a disability

    Preferred ages of children

    • No preference
    • Specific ages or age ranges, through age 17

    Preferred household size

    • No preference
    • Specific size or range

    Health conditions, diagnoses and disabilities

    • No preference
    • Alzheimer’s disease
    • Autism
    • Blindness
    • Cancer
    • Cardiac condition, including cardiac transplant
    • Cerebral palsy
    • Diabetes
    • Down syndrome
    • Hypertension or hypotension
    • Intellectual disability
    • Kidney disease or dialysis, including kidney transplant
    • Neurological condition, including stroke, multiple sclerosis, essential tremor, epilepsy or seizure disorder
    • Parkinson’s disease
    • Sickle cell disease or another blood disorder
    • Respiratory or lung disorder, including asthma, COPD or cystic fibrosis
    • Digestive or liver disorder, including Crohn’s disease or celiac disease
    • Immune system or autoimmune disorder, including lupus or rheumatoid arthritis
    • Hormone or metabolic disorder other than diabetes, including thyroid disease
    • Bone, joint or muscle condition, including arthritis or muscular dystrophy
    • Mental health condition, including depression, anxiety, PTSD or bipolar disorder
    • Developmental or learning disability, including ADHD

Not sure? That’s fine. You do not need to choose a preference for everything. Select No Preference wherever something does not matter to you, or leave most of the matching to us.

  2. Operation Holiday®

    Your Sponsor ID Is Created

Every Concierge request receives its own Sponsor ID. It identifies and tracks your adoption from start to finish, which matters most when an organization is adopting several families.

    Example Sponsor IDSPONSOR-NJ-2026-0001

Keep your Sponsor ID handy whenever you contact us about your adoption.

  3. Operation Holiday®

    We Review Your Request

Our team reviews the preferences you selected. Separately, families apply to take part in Operation Holiday at Home® and must meet the program’s eligibility and verification requirements. Only eligible participating families are considered for Concierge matching.

We then compare your request with the families who are available and look for the household or households that most closely fit.

  4. Operation Holiday®

    We Identify Your Family Match

We make every reasonable effort to find a family that meets your preferences. Matching depends on the families who have applied, been approved, and are still available for sponsorship when your request is processed, so choosing a preference does not guarantee an exact match. If no available household meets every preference, we identify the closest appropriate match.

Flexible is faster. The more flexible your preferences, the more families we can consider, and the sooner a waiting family finds a sponsor.

  5. We hand it to you

    Receive Your Family Information

Once your match is complete, we send you what you need to begin. To protect each family’s privacy, every participating family is assigned a unique Family ID.

    Example Family IDNJ-2026-0001

Depending on what the family shared and approved, your information may include:

    • City and state
    • Household composition
    • Number and ages of children
    • Children’s wish lists
    • Clothing sizes
    • Family’s delivery method
    • Family circumstances shared for the program

This helps you understand the family you are helping and shop for the children and household you adopted.

  6. You

    Shop for Your Adopted Family

You purchase the gifts. Operation Holiday® does not buy gifts through the Concierge Service, which leaves you free to make the adoption your own.

A company can invite employees to pick items from the wish list. A church can divide the list among its members. A school, department, association, family, or community group can run its own collection. Organizations adopting several families can coordinate across employees, departments, locations, and teams.

  7. You

    Prepare Your Family’s Gifts

When shopping is done, get the gifts ready. You choose how they will be delivered, and you are welcome to contact the head of household who applied to find the right delivery fit. Keep the Family ID with the family’s gifts so they reach the correct household.

Adopting more than one family? Keep each family’s gifts separate and labeled with their Family ID. That prevents mix-ups and lost items.

  8. You

    Deliver Your Gifts Your Way

You choose how the gifts reach your family, from the delivery methods that work for you both. About 95% of families receive their gifts by US Postal Service, FedEx or UPS. The other 5% choose in-person delivery by the sponsor and/or team, or delivery by Santa Claus.

Operation Holiday® follows each adoption through confirmed delivery, and your adoption is complete once the gifts are delivered.

Your confirmation. Sponsors who adopt a family receive a participation confirmation from Operation Holiday®. Charitable donations given in 2026 are acknowledged in writing: Zeffy donations receive an automatic receipt, and PayPal, Square and check donations are acknowledged by January 31, 2027.

Adopting Several Families?

Concierge was created to make larger adoptions manageable. If your company, organization, church, school, hospital, law firm, foundation, civic group, association, employee group, or household would like to adopt several families, you do not need a separate request for each one.

Tell us how many families you would like to adopt on the Concierge Form, and add any preferences that show us how you would like them matched. We will use that information as we coordinate your matches.

For example, you might request

  • Several families from the same area
  • Families near a particular office or service area
  • Families with children in certain age groups
  • Larger households
  • Single-parent households
  • Veteran households
  • Senior households
  • Families experiencing particular circumstances
  • Families that include someone living with a disability or certain health conditions
  • A mix of different families, with no particular preference
Your preferences guide the match. They never decide whether a family qualifies.
Concierge personalizes your adoption without creating barriers for families who need help.

Your selections tell us which families you are especially interested in helping. They are not extra eligibility requirements for families, and choosing a particular characteristic does not guarantee that a matching household is available. If your first preference cannot be matched, Operation Holiday® may contact you, or use the flexibility you indicated on your form, to find another appropriate participating family. Choosing No Preference wherever you are flexible lets us connect you with more of the families still waiting for sponsors.

Privacy for Everyone

Families and sponsors are both protected.

Protecting Family Privacy

Families sometimes share deeply personal information when they apply, and Operation Holiday® treats it with care. Family IDs are used throughout the program, and sponsors receive the information reasonably necessary to understand their adopted family’s needs and complete the adoption.

Families are never required to identify themselves publicly just because they need help during the holidays. Needing help at Christmas should never mean being put on display.

Sponsor Privacy

Sponsors may remain anonymous. If you prefer that your name, company, organization, or group not be identified to the family, Operation Holiday® will respect your choice.

If you would like your adopted family to know who helped make their Christmas possible, you may identify yourself. The decision is yours.
